McAlester receiver/linebacker De'Veion Bickham will complete his high school football career at nearby Hartshorne.
The 6'4", 190-pound junior announced that he is transferring for his senior season to the school about 20 miles southeast of McAlester.
"Blessed is an understatement for my time at McAlester," Bickham said in a social media post. "I'm truly thankful for the people, memories and lessons that made this chapter special. As I transfer to Hartshorne Public Schools, I leave with nothing but gratitude and appreciation."
Bickham made 57 tackles, one for loss, one sack and two interceptions, one of which he returned 57 yards for a touchdown in the Buffaloes' win over Booker T. Washington in October, helping McAlester finish 7-5 and advance to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.
He also caught 14 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.
He joins a Hartshorne team that went 4-6 in 2025, but began the season 4-2.
Bickham already has offers from Howard Huskies Prep, Sussex County Community College and San Bernardino Valley College.
